Wisdom's 7 Pillars of
True Education

God's Word always makes sense,

but for the following verses to make sense within

the context of "Wisdom's 7 Pillars of True

Education" you will first need to read the

article by that name that I wrote.

Revelation of the Knowledge of God

and His Will:

"For these things (see the verse right before this one, given in "Character Development" below, for a list of what "these things" are) are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (II Peter 1:8 NKJV)

"And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent..." (Phil.1:9–10 NKJV)

"We... do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God..." (Col. 1:9–11 NKJV)

Close, Intimate, Personal, Active Relationship

and Fellowship With God:

"The one thing I want from God, the thing I seek most of all, is the privilege of meditating in His temple, living in His presence every day of my life, delighting in His incomparable perfections and glory. There I'll be when troubles come..." (Ps. 27:4–5 TLB)

"My heart has heard You say, 'Come and talk with Me, oh my people,' and my heart responds, 'Lord, I am coming." (Ps 27:8 TLB)

"And now, just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust Him, too, for each day's problems; live in vital union with Him. Let your roots grow down into Him and draw up nourishment from Him." (Col. 2:6–7 TLB)

"For they are transplanted into the Lord's own garden and are under His personal care." (Ps 92:13 TLB)

Developing Godly Family Relationships:

"Let the older women teach the younger women to live quietly, to love their husbands and their children..." (Titus 2: 4–5 TLB)

"Husbands, likewise, dwell with your wives with understanding, giving honor to the wife as the weaker vessel..." (I Peter 3:7 NKJV)

"Children, obey your parents..." (Eph. 6:1 TLB)

"Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord." (Eph. 6:4 NKJV)

"If you can find a good wife, her worth is far above rubies..." (Prov. 31: 10–31 TLB)

Preparation for

Specific Life Calling and Purpose

and for Roles in Life:

"If anyone purifies himself form what is ignoble" (= dishonorable, evil, common = average, standard, traditional, conventional, familiar, customary") "then he will be a vessel for noble use, consecrated and useful to the master of the house, ready for any good work." (II Tim. 2:21)

"Jesus said 'My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.'" (John 4:34)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62 TLB)

"Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble..." (II Peter 1:10 NKJV)

"We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." (Eph. 2:10)

Character Development:

"But also for this very reason, with all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness..."  (II Peter 1:5–7 NKJV)

"For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it." (Hebrews 12:11 NKJV)

Equip with Tools to Learn for Life:

There isn't really a verse for this, but it is a biblical principal. See Wisdom's Way of Learning for specific, in-depth teaching in this area.

"But everyone who lives on milk" ("milk-like curriculum" = bottle- fed; for less mature) "is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their faculties trained by practice to distinguish good from evil."  (Heb 5:13)

The tools we need most: "The days will come when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel... I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people... and they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest... In speaking of a new covenant, He treats the old as obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away."

Basic Foundation of Knowledge

to Function in Society:

I couldn't find this anywhere in the Word either, yet it seems to be universally accepted wisdom and just plain common sense. However I did find the following references that give specific guidance for gaining knowledge:

"Do not let others spoil your faith and joy with their philosophies, their wrong and shallow answers built on men's thoughts and ideas (empty deceit), instead of on what Christ has said. For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; so you have everything (you are complete, and so is your education) when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power."  (Col. 2:8–10 TLB)

"Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles" (seems like this would include "the basic principles of education") "of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations..." (requirements, criteria, etc.) "...which all concern things which perish with the using – according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, ... but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh." (Col. 2:20–23 NKJV)

"For the Lord spoke thus to me... and warned me not to walk in the way of this people" (and the public school system is one of the "Top 10 Ways of This People") "saying: 'Do not... fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But the Lord of Hosts, HIM you shall regard as holy; (= "to be revered") "let HIM be your fear, and let HIM be your dread, (which boils down to: Let HIS be the Voice you heed!") and He will become a sanctuary." (Is. 8:11–13)

"If any of you lacks wisdom,
(yes, even, if not especially, about how to homeschool) then let him ask God, who gives to all men generously and without reproaching, and it will be given him." (James 1:5)

Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me." (John 10:27)
